The Gift of Prayer
Wednesday I said I will only give updates on Mondays or whenever something significant happens. Thursday was an "almost normal day." Today was not so "normal." Dan met with the surgeon today. The good news is that the surgeon dismissed Dan today. Dan is to see him only on an "as need" basis.
However, he said that the swelling in Dan's leg is going to be there for some time...that it may remain a chronic problem...that Dan will have to wear a full length support sock on his right leg the rest of Dan's life. While that may seem like a small thing compared to most other challenges of life, it is just one more thing to have to deal with.
Tonight, something significant happened -- a beloved friend and family member sent us this gift - the gift of prayer from God's Word. I know many of you are struggling with life's challenges, so I offer this gift, Psalm 20, as a prayer for you. When I have a helpful verse to share, I will write it, for you, on the blog.
Our loved one wrote, "When I read Psalm 20 this week, it seemed to especially apply to your situation.
This was my prayer for you today:
Psalm 20
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary
and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices
and accept your burnt offerings.
Selah
4 May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious
and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the LORD grant all your requests.
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed;
he answers him from his holy heaven
with the saving power of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
9 O LORD, save O King!
Answer us when we call!"
