Montara is in the unincorporated portion of San Mateo County. We have no city, hence no city council. We look to San Mateo County for much of our governmental services, including police protection, zoning, environmental health, and much more.
We have Montara Sanitary District, offering sewer and trash services from Montara down to just north of El Granada. MSD also has water powers.
