Annexation or Incorporation?

The Midcoast community exists in the limbo known as "unincorporated San Mateo County". We have no city council, no mayor, and no local control over ordinances. Five San Mateo County Supervisors control all of our ordinances, and most of our services (with the exception of sewer, water, and fire). With a few million people for the supervisors to worry about, a few thousand on the coastside may feel somewhat underrepresented from time to time.

LAFCo, the San Mateo Local Agency Formation Co., is conducting an Midcoast Incorporation/Annexation Fiscal Study. They are providing materials for our consumption. LAFCo reports to the Board of Supervisors.
