There's no date on the following old news item June Morrall found in her files (it appears from reading the clipping the "Half Moon Bay News" reported it).

HALFMOON BAY COUPLE RUN FIRST AUTO OVER NEW COAST BOULEVARD

Alvin S. Hatch, the lumber man of Half Moon Bay, and Mrs. Hatch yesterday drove the first machine over the new county highway from Montara to Rockaway. The new road leads over the San Pedro grade on Montara mountain and when completed will furnish a fine boulevard from Colma right down to Halfmoon Bay.

Mrs. Hatch drove the automobile the entire distance and at one place the road gang was just clearing the last obstructions from the roadway as they came along. After visiting friends in the north end of the county, Mr. and Mrs. Hatch drove to San Mateo, stopped for a few minutes at The News office and then started on the return trip via Belmont.

Apparently Mr. Hatch was also a Supervisor at some point.
